Standards & stewardship
This guide defines how StevensED presents itself across print, digital, instructional, and institutional materials. The system reflects the organization’s classical foundations, academic rigor, and commitment to beauty, order, and seriousness of purpose.
The standing rule
Write the name as StevensED—one word, with a capital S and ED. Treat it as one indivisible name: never recolor, resize, separate, or otherwise emphasize “ED” within the wordmark. Stevens Education may appear beneath the name as its formal descriptor; it is not a tagline.
I · Foundation
The system favors clarity, proportion, dignity, and consistency. Classical references should be substantive and restrained, never ornamental for their own sake.
Favor restraint, balance, generous space, and considered details. Quality should be felt before it is explained.
Be exact in language and disciplined in structure. Claims should be specific, supportable, and free of hype.
Use confident language that honors effort, perseverance, and the moral seriousness of learning.
High standards and warmth belong together. Speak to students and families with respect, clarity, and care.
Stevens Education is the formal descriptor. It explains the field and may accompany the name, but it is not a tagline or a separate brand.
Use A StevensED Institution as the public endorsement. Reserve StevensED LLC for contracts, invoices, policy footers, and required legal disclosures.
The long-term educational scope may span pre-K through grade 12. Until programs expand, describe only the courses and services actually offered; do not imply full-time enrollment or accreditation.
II · The mark
Use the supplied artwork. The book is not a standalone identifier and must always appear with the StevensED name. Never extract, retype, redraw, stretch, outline, shadow, rotate, or recolor the logo.
The open book is too generic to identify StevensED independently. It must remain physically paired with the StevensED name in every logo application, including profile images, document covers, social graphics, merchandise, and interface branding.
Set the complete wordmark in one color. Do not distinguish “ED” through color, weight, scale, spacing, outlines, or effects. Crimson belongs to the emblem or another controlled accent—not to a syllable within the name.
The Garamond wordmark with the Stevens Education descriptor is approved for institutional, editorial, and wide-format applications. It does not replace the established book-and-name logo as the primary mark.
xKeep clear space around the complete lockup equal to at least the cap height of the “S” in StevensED. More is always welcome.
150 px digitalIf the complete lockup cannot reproduce clearly, omit the logo and write StevensED as text. Never use the book by itself.
Prefer solid navy, cream, or white fields. On photography, place the mark in a quiet area with strong contrast.
III · Color
A restrained institutional palette drawn from scholarship, virtue, stewardship, beauty, and order. Navy and crimson always lead; supporting colors clarify purpose without competing for attention.
The unmistakable StevensED family. The first two values belong to the supplied logo artwork; use the deeper digital pair for accessible text and controls.
Use one supporting accent at a time. Each has a defined institutional meaning and should occupy no more visual space than crimson.
A warm, stone-and-paper scale for editorial layouts. Deep Ink carries long-form text; the light values create structure without sterile gray.
Reserved for meaning in digital products, forms, reports, and policy systems. Do not substitute expressive brand accents for status colors.
Begin near 60% with Vellum, Parchment, or White; about 30% may be navy or ink; keep crimson and any one secondary accent near 10% combined.
Academic Navy and Accessible Crimson are the default for interface text and controls. Every dark supporting and functional value passes AA on White and Vellum; never set text in the light neutrals.
Laurel, gold, slate, and oxblood are alternatives, not a rainbow. Use one supporting accent per artifact unless information design requires more.

IV · Typography
Our type system joins the authority of a classical serif with the precision of a modern sans serif.
Aa
The pursuit of
lasting knowledge.
Aa
Clear thought.
Exact expression.
Sentence case over title case. Let the language carry authority without making every word announce itself.
Use hierarchy, not decoration. Limit weights, keep line lengths readable, and allow generous margins.
Never recreate the wordmark in type. The logo is custom artwork and must remain intact.
V · Voice & language
Write with confidence, precision, and respect for the reader. Avoid inflated claims, affected historical language, and unnecessary formality.
Prefer concrete verbs, specific claims, and direct sentences. The tone may be formal, but it should remain natural and easy to understand.
Approved short description
StevensED is an independent education organization providing and developing rigorous, classically grounded courses and personalized instruction for students and families.
VI · Art direction
Natural light, honest study, tactile materials, classical architecture, focused expressions, and composed environments.
Forced celebration, staged pointing, novelty props, neon palettes, cartoon academia, faux parchment, and costume-like classicism.
Use depth, calm negative space, restrained contrast, and one clear focal point. Images should feel observed, not manufactured.
VII · Downloads
Choose SVG for scalable digital and print work. Use transparent PNG files when the application does not support vectors.
The established book-and-name logo in full-color, white, black, grayscale, and monochrome formats.
